iCarsoft scan tools do not all update in the same way. Some update directly over WiβFi, while others use the official computer software with a memory card or USB connection. Start by checking what appears on your tool.
The quickest way to find the correct process is to check whether the tool itself has WiβFi settings and an Update app or menu. That gives you a more reliable answer than trying to remember every model generation.
Check the home screen and the Settings menu while the tool is switched on.
The update is downloaded and installed on the scan tool itself. No separate computer software is normally required.
Go to Method AThe tool will normally update through the official iCarsoft client using its supplied memory card or the required USB connection.
Go to Method BMost update problems come from lost power, a removed card or an interrupted connection. Set the tool up properly before starting.
This method is used by many newer touchscreen and tablet-style iCarsoft tools that include their own Update app.
Make sure the battery is well charged. For a longer update, keep the tool connected to its recommended power source.
Open Settings, select WiβFi and connect to a reliable network with internet access.
Return to the home screen and open Update, Software Update or the similarly named update menu shown on the tool.
Follow the on-screen registration or account instructions. Keep the tool serial number available.
Select the available updates or use Update All where offered. Leave the tool powered and connected until every package has finished.
Allow the tool to finish installing and restart if requested. Reopen the Update app afterwards to confirm nothing remains pending.
This method is used by tools that rely on their supplied TF or microSD card, or a specified USB connection, rather than an on-tool WiβFi update menu.
Download the official Windows package or macOS app above and complete the installation.
Use the method intended for your model. This may mean placing the original memory card in a card reader or connecting the tool by USB.
Launch the iCarsoft update software and sign in or register the device if the program asks you to.
Choose the available software packages and allow the client to write them fully to the tool or memory card.
When the program confirms completion, close it and safely eject the memory card or connected device before unplugging it.
Reinstall the card where required, power the tool on and allow any final installation or restart to complete.
This walkthrough is useful for tools that update through the official client and memory card. The exact screens can vary slightly with the model and software version.
Try the simple checks below once. If an update has failed part-way through, avoid repeatedly formatting cards or reinstalling files. Record the message on screen and contact us.
Confirm the tool or computer has internet access, check that you are signed in, then close and reopen the update menu or client.
Move closer to the router, forget and reconnect to the network, or try a different trusted network or mobile hotspot.
Reseat the card and try another card reader or USB port. Do not format the card as a first troubleshooting step.
Take a clear photo of the error and note the model and serial number. Contact us before deleting files or attempting a card replacement.
Restart the computer, reinstall the official package and make sure your operating system allows the application to run.
Send us the full model name, serial number and a photo of the home screen. We can point you to the correct process.
For tools purchased through iCarsoft New Zealand, contact us with the model, serial number, the update method you tried and a photo of any error. That gives us enough information to help without guessing.
