How the 10 Software Groups Work

The CR V3.0 is supplied with no vehicle software selected. During setup, the user downloads up to 10 supported software groups through Wi-Fi. A software group may represent one vehicle make or several related marques, depending on how iCarsoft packages that manufacturer.

Examples can include BMW Group, Mercedes-Benz Group, Volkswagen Group, Toyota Group, Nissan Group, Hyundai/Kia, Ford, GM, Chrysler Group, Land Rover/Jaguar and other supported selections.

Choose carefully. Downloaded groups are permanently assigned to the tool and cannot later be swapped for different groups.

Full-System Diagnostics

Within the installed software groups, the CR V3.0 is designed to communicate with manufacturer-specific modules throughout supported vehicles. Depending on the vehicle, this can include engine, transmission, ABS, airbags, steering, instrument cluster, body control, climate control, electronic parking brake, suspension, lighting, comfort and gateway systems.

Available functions include reading and clearing fault codes, viewing ECU information, checking live data and freeze-frame information, carrying out a complete vehicle scan and opening individual modules for more focused diagnosis.

The exact systems available depend on the selected software group, vehicle make, model, year, market specification and fitted control modules.

Bi-Directional Control and Active Testing

Bi-directional control allows the CR V3.0 to send commands to supported modules and components rather than only reading stored information. This can help confirm whether a component responds before replacement parts are ordered.

Depending on the vehicle, active tests can include windows, mirrors, door locks, fuel pumps, injectors, throttle actuators, ABS pumps, cooling fans, lighting, valves, relays and other supported electrical systems.

Active-test coverage varies by installed software group, vehicle, year and fitted ECU. A test available on one vehicle may not be available on another.

40+ Service and Maintenance Functions

The CR V3.0 combines nine frequently used maintenance procedures with a wider range of advanced service and relearn functions.

Additional supported procedures can include air-suspension service, air-conditioning routines, headlamp calibration, engine and transmission adaptations, body-control routines, seat and window calibration, fuel-pump activation, immobiliser-related functions, EGR and AdBlue procedures, clutch matching, crankshaft learning, turbocharger functions, high-voltage battery service, radar and camera calibration and other vehicle-specific operations.

Service-function availability varies by software group, make, model, year, system and ECU configuration. A listed function is not available on every supported vehicle.

CAN-FD and Volkswagen Group Guided Functions

The CR V3.0 supports CAN-FD communication used by selected newer vehicles. It also supports VAG guided functions on compatible Volkswagen Group vehicles, helping step through supported procedures where that function is available.

Some newer vehicles use manufacturer security gateways that can restrict active tests or service functions. Exact access depends on the vehicle and manufacturer requirements.

Wi-Fi Updates and Diagnostic Reports

Software updates are downloaded directly through Wi-Fi, with no annual update subscription. This also allows the selected software groups to be installed during initial setup.

Previous diagnostic sessions can be reopened, and reports can be saved, shared or printed through a Windows computer for workshop records or customer documentation.
