The iCarsoft CR Max P is the flagship all-makes diagnostic tablet in the current iCarsoft range. It is designed for independent workshops, mobile technicians, fleet operators and serious users who need a larger screen, wireless vehicle communication and deeper workshop capability than a standard handheld scan tool.

The CR Max P is built around a more practical workshop workflow. The wireless VCI remains connected to the vehicle while the tablet can be carried to the engine bay, rear of the vehicle, passenger side or workshop bench.

Full-System Diagnostics

Unlike a basic OBD2 reader, the CR Max P is designed to communicate with manufacturer-specific control modules throughout supported vehicles. Depending on the vehicle, this can include engine, transmission, ABS, airbags, steering, body control, climate control, suspension, parking systems, battery management, lighting, doors, windows, infotainment, gateway modules and other fitted systems.

Available functions include reading and clearing fault codes, viewing ECU information, live data and freeze-frame information, carrying out a complete vehicle scan and opening individual modules for more focused diagnosis.

The exact systems available depend on the vehicle make, model, year, market specification and fitted control modules.

Bi-Directional Control and Active Testing

Bi-directional control allows the CR Max P to send commands to supported modules and components rather than only reading stored information. This can help determine whether a fault lies with a component, its wiring, control circuit or the command being sent by the vehicle.

Depending on the vehicle, active tests can include cooling fans, fuel pumps, injectors, relays, lights, horns, door locks, windows, mirrors, throttle actuators, ABS pump motors, HVAC components and other supported electrical systems.

Active-test coverage varies by make, model, year and fitted ECU. A test available on one vehicle may not be available on another.

Selected ECU Coding and Configuration

The CR Max P supports selected coding, adaptation and configuration functions on compatible vehicles from BMW, Volkswagen Group, Hyundai and Kia, Ford, Mazda, Renault, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Subaru.

Depending on the vehicle, this may include module matching, variant coding, programmable parameters, component adaptation, selected configuration changes, data migration and feature personalisation.

This is not universal online dealer programming or unrestricted blank-module programming. Confirm the exact vehicle and required coding function before purchase.

50 Service and Maintenance Functions

The CR Max P combines nine commonly used service functions with a wider set of advanced workshop procedures for supported vehicles.

Additional supported procedures can include transmission adaptations, air suspension service, airbag functions, headlamp calibration, window and seat calibration, EGR and AdBlue routines, clutch matching, crankshaft learning, high-voltage battery service, turbocharger functions, NOx sensor reset, radar and camera calibration and other vehicle-specific procedures.

Service functions vary by vehicle make, model, year, system and ECU configuration. A function listed in the tool does not mean it is available on every supported vehicle.

CAN-FD and DoIP Support

CAN-FD is supported on compatible later-model vehicles, including selected newer GM and Chrysler-group platforms.

The CR Max P package also includes the network cables required for supported DoIP diagnostics on selected BMW, Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. Some late-model vehicles use manufacturer security gateways that can still restrict active tests, service functions or coding.

Tablet Hardware and Workshop Workflow

The Android tablet uses a 10-inch 1280 × 800 capacitive touchscreen, quad-core 1.3GHz processor, 64GB internal storage and a 10,000mAh rechargeable battery. Continuous operating time is rated at approximately eight hours.

Wi-Fi allows software updates to be installed directly on the tablet. Updates remain free for the life of the tool with no annual subscription.

Diagnostic History and Reports

Previous diagnostic sessions can be reopened from the tablet, making it easier to return to an ongoing job. Reports can be saved and shared, while diagnostic data can be printed by connecting the tablet to a Windows computer through USB.

A built-in Feedback function also allows diagnostic LOG information to be submitted when software coverage or communication issues need review.

Optional Expansion
