The VAWS V3.0 is designed to communicate with manufacturer-specific modules throughout supported vehicles. Depending on the model, this can include engine, transmission, ABS, airbags, steering, instrument cluster, body control, climate control, electronic parking brake, suspension, lighting, seats, convenience, infotainment and gateway systems.

Available functions include reading and clearing fault codes, viewing ECU information, checking live data and freeze-frame information, carrying out a complete vehicle scan and opening individual modules for more focused diagnosis.

The exact systems available depend on the marque, model, year, market specification and fitted control modules.

Bi-Directional Control and Active Testing

Bi-directional control allows the VAWS V3.0 to send commands to supported modules and components rather than only reading stored information. This can help confirm whether a component responds before replacement parts are ordered.

Depending on the vehicle, available tests can include windows, mirrors, door locks, throttle actuators, pumps, lighting, fans and other supported electrical systems.

Active-test coverage varies by marque, model, year and fitted ECU. A test available on one Volkswagen Group vehicle may not be available on another.

Basic Settings, Adaptations and Coding

On compatible vehicles, the VAWS V3.0 supports selected VAG basic settings, adaptations, Coding/Code II functions and security login procedures. These may be used for supported component setup, relearning, calibration or configuration work.

This is not universal online programming, key programming or unrestricted blank-module programming. Exact coding and security-access functions must be confirmed for the vehicle and intended task.

40+ Service and Maintenance Functions

The VAWS V3.0 combines nine commonly used maintenance procedures with more than 30 higher-level Volkswagen Group routines.

Additional supported procedures can include air-conditioning service, headlamp calibration, engine and transmission adaptations, body-control routines, seat calibration, fuel-pump activation, airbag functions, window and door relearns, AdBlue procedures, clutch matching, crankshaft learning, high-voltage battery functions, radar and camera calibration and other VAG-specific operations.

Service-function availability varies by marque, model, year, system and ECU configuration. A listed function is not available on every supported vehicle.

Updates and Diagnostic Reports

Software updates are installed through a Windows computer using the supplied USB cable and storage card. Updates remain free for the life of the tool, with no annual subscription.

Previous diagnostic sessions can be reopened, and reports can be saved or printed through a Windows computer for workshop records or customer documentation.
