Bi-Directional Testing That Goes Beyond Reading Codes

Fault codes tell you where a vehicle has detected a problem. Bi-directional control helps establish what is actually responding. The CR Eagle P can send commands to supported modules and components, allowing a technician to operate them directly from the scan tool.

Depending on the vehicle, active tests may include cooling fans, fuel pumps, injectors, ABS pump motors, transmission solenoids, throttle actuators, EGR valves, windows, locks, mirrors, lights, horns and HVAC components. Being able to command a component and observe the response can help separate a failed part from a wiring, power-supply or control problem, reducing guesswork and unnecessary parts replacement.

ECU Coding, Configuration and J2534 Pass-Thru

The CR Eagle P supports selected coding, adaptation and configuration functions on compatible vehicles. Depending on the make and model, these can include module matching, component adaptation, variant coding, programmable parameters, data migration and selected feature personalisation.

Its wireless VCI can also operate as an SAE J2534-1 and J2534-2 pass-thru interface. Used with a suitable Windows computer, compatible manufacturer software and the required OEM subscription, this provides the hardware connection for supported factory programming and module reflashing procedures.

Coding and programming capability is vehicle-specific. J2534 work requires the correct OEM software, manufacturer access and approved procedures, so coverage should always be confirmed for the intended vehicle.

A Complete TPMS Programming Tool

Integrated TPMS hardware turns the CR Eagle P into a complete tyre-pressure monitoring system tool. It can activate and read compatible original and universal sensors, diagnose TPMS faults, program supported replacement sensors and guide the required relearn procedure.

Four programmable iCarsoft TPMS sensors are included in the case, so the package is ready for sensor replacement work without an immediate extra purchase. For workshops servicing a growing number of vehicles with ageing or damaged tyre-pressure sensors, this is one of the biggest practical advantages over a conventional diagnostic tablet.

The CR Eagle P covers the regular workshop procedures expected from a professional automotive diagnostic scanner, including oil and service reset, electronic parking brake service, steering-angle calibration, DPF regeneration, injector coding, ABS bleeding, battery registration, throttle relearn and air-suspension service.

Further vehicle-specific procedures can include transmission adaptations, EGR and AdBlue functions, headlamp calibration, window and seat calibration, clutch matching, crankshaft learning, high-voltage battery service, turbocharger functions, NOx sensor reset, and radar or camera calibration. The exact functions available depend on the vehicle and fitted control systems.

Ready for Newer Vehicles and Selected Older Models

Support for CAN-FD and DoIP gives the Eagle P the communication hardware needed by many later vehicle platforms. At the other end of the workshop, the included 14-piece adapter set provides physical connections for selected older Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi and Volkswagen Group, Ford and Mazda, Honda, Kia, Fiat, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Chrysler and Sprinter vehicles.

The set also includes an FCA 12+8 gateway adapter for compatible secure-gateway vehicles. Adapter availability does not by itself guarantee software coverage, but having the complete kit in the case gives the Eagle P a far wider range of connection options than a standard OBDII-only package.

The 10-inch 1280 × 800 touchscreen is powered by a 2.0GHz quad-core processor, with 128GB of internal storage and a 10,000mAh rechargeable battery.
