iCarsoft LR v4.0 Land Rover/Jaguar (+2 other Brands) Scan Tool

The iCarsoft LR V4.0 is a dedicated full-system diagnostic tool for Land Rover, Range Rover and Jaguar vehicles. It is designed for owners, home mechanics, mobile technicians and independent workshops that want deeper JLR-specific access than a basic OBD2 code reader can provide.

Land Rover and Jaguar software is installed from the factory, and two further vehicle software groups can be downloaded at no extra charge. The V4 platform adds a 5-inch Android touchscreen, AutoVIN, bi-directional testing, more than 30 service procedures, CAN-FD support, diagnostic reports and lifetime free Wi-Fi updates.

The LR V4.0 is designed to communicate with manufacturer-specific control modules throughout supported vehicles. Depending on the model, this can include engine, transmission, ABS, airbags, steering, body control, climate control, electronic parking brake, air suspension, terrain and stability systems, lighting, security, gateway modules and other fitted electronics.

Available functions include reading and clearing fault codes, viewing ECU information, checking live data and freeze-frame information, carrying out a complete vehicle scan and opening individual modules for more focused diagnosis.

The exact systems available depend on the vehicle’s model, year, market specification and fitted control modules.

Bi-Directional Control and Active Testing

Bi-directional control allows the LR V4.0 to send commands to supported modules and components rather than only reading stored information. This can help confirm whether a component responds before replacement parts are ordered.

Depending on the vehicle, active tests can include windows, mirrors, door locks, throttle actuators, pumps, lighting, suspension-related components and other supported electrical systems.

Active-test coverage varies by model, year and fitted ECU. A test available on one JLR vehicle may not be available on another.

30+ Service and Maintenance Functions

The LR V4.0 includes regularly used JLR maintenance procedures and more advanced workshop routines for supported vehicles.

Additional supported procedures can include transmission adaptations, air-conditioning routines, headlamp calibration, airbag functions, seat and window calibration, fuel-pump activation, immobiliser-related service, EGR and AdBlue procedures, crankshaft learning, turbocharger functions, high-voltage battery service, radar and camera calibration and other JLR-specific operations.

Service-function availability varies by model, year, system and ECU configuration. A listed function is not available on every supported vehicle.

Two Additional Vehicle Software Groups

After purchase, two additional supported vehicle groups can be downloaded through Wi-Fi at no extra charge. A software group may cover one make or several related marques, depending on the selection.

The extra downloads add flexibility, but the LR V4.0 remains primarily a Land Rover and Jaguar specialist. For regular work across many unrelated makes, an all-makes CR Pro or CR Max tool is more suitable.

CAN-FD and Later-Model Vehicles

The LR V4.0 supports CAN-FD communication used by selected newer vehicles. This improves access to compatible later-model platforms that may not communicate fully with older diagnostic hardware.

Some newer vehicles also use manufacturer security gateways that can restrict active tests or service procedures. Exact access depends on the vehicle and manufacturer requirements.

Touchscreen Hardware and Updates

The Android platform uses a quad-core 1.3GHz processor, 32GB internal storage and a 5-inch 854 × 480 capacitive touchscreen. The 5000mAh rechargeable battery provides around six hours of continuous use.

Updates and the two additional software groups are downloaded directly through 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. No annual update subscription is required.

Vehicle Coverage

The LR V4.0 is intended for supported OBDII-era Land Rover, Range Rover and Jaguar vehicles using the standard 16-pin diagnostic connection. This includes many later Defender, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Freelander, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque, Velar, XE, XF, XJ, F-Pace, E-Pace and I-Pace models.

Coverage on early pre-2000 Land Rover and Jaguar vehicles can be limited or unavailable, particularly where older diagnostic connectors or protocols are used. Check the Function List before ordering for an older vehicle.
